The basics
Hiraal Lifecare is a free mobile app for recording and following your own health measurements — blood pressure, blood sugar and weight.
It is made by Hiraal Healthcare Group in Hargeisa.
Yes. The app is free to download and free to use. There is no charge for recording your readings or for looking back at them.
Home monitoring devices are a separate thing, bought on their own, and they are optional.
It is built for adults living with diabetes or high blood pressure, and it is designed with older adults particularly in mind — large type, large buttons and plain language throughout.
Anyone who wants to keep track of these measurements can use it.
This is being confirmed, and we would rather say nothing than say something inaccurate. This website is in English for now, and a Somali version of the site is planned.
This answer will be completed once the detail has been confirmed.
Using the app
Yes. Systolic, diastolic and pulse are entered together and stay paired in your record. Each reading is answered — normal, high or low — and the week is drawn as one line.
Yes. Blood glucose is recorded in mmol/L and tagged with the moment it was taken — fasting, after breakfast, before lunch — and it has its own chart for the week or the month.
Yes. Weight has its own card on the home screen, in kilograms, with its own line for the week.
You enter your readings in the app yourself. It takes a few seconds.
We are not claiming automatic syncing from any device. If that becomes possible, we will say so here.
This answer will be completed once the detail has been confirmed.
You can show your record on your phone at your appointment, which is what many people do.
Whether readings are visible to a clinician through Hiraal directly is still being confirmed, so we are not describing it yet.
This answer will be completed once the detail has been confirmed.
Devices
No. The app is free and works with readings you take however you take them, on whatever monitor, meter or scale you already have.
The blood pressure monitor, the blood glucose meter and the smart scale are still in preparation. Prices and where to buy them have not been announced.
This answer will be completed once the detail has been confirmed.
Health and safety
No, and it is not intended to. Hiraal Lifecare helps you record and look at your own measurements. It does not diagnose, treat, or give medical advice.
Always follow the advice of the doctor or nurse treating you.
Do not use the app. Contact your local emergency services or go to the nearest hospital straight away.
Hiraal Lifecare does not monitor you and nobody is watching your readings for danger.
It means the number you entered falls in the range usually described as normal. It is not an assessment of your health, and it does not take account of your history, your medication or how you feel.
If you are unwell or worried, speak to a clinician regardless of what the app shows.
Your information
